All about Alicja
Alicja Bany is a Polish mezzo-soprano born in 1999. She completed her Bachelor’s degree under Dr. hab. Kamila Kutakowska at the Music Academy in Bydgoszcz, Poland. In the summer semester of 2022, she participated in an Erasmus+ student exchange at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden. Subsequently, she pursued a Master’s degree in Opera Singing at the same institution, studying under Prof. Hendrikje Wangemann. She also attended the Lied class led by chamber singer Prof. Olaf Bär.
In 2022, Alicja Bany performed as a soloist in one of three world premieres at the Federal Academy for Young Music Theater during the Rheinsberg Chamber Opera’s festival summer. She has been awarded the Deutschlandstipendium and received additional support from the Giovanni Omodeo Foundation.
In October 2023, she performed as a soloist at the Mittelsächsisches Theater Freiberg in an opera gala with the Mittelsächsische Philharmonie. In April 2024, Alicja Bany took on the role of Ramiro in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s La finta giardiniera (“The Pretend Garden-Girl”) in an opera production by the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden. In June 2024, she reached the semifinals of the prestigious International Belvedere Singing Competition in Jūrmala. Shortly afterward, in July 2024, she made her debut in the opera gala Fairy Tales with the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen, conducted by chief conductor Ekkehard Klemm.
